Constructivism Theory

Constructivism

Learning happens when students construct knowledge out of their own experiences.  Their social and cultural environments determine the learners prior knowledge and experiences.   Learning is an active process, in which, the learner uses sensory input and constructs meaning out of it.

Hands-on activities are a good option for the classroom applications of constructivism.  Have students write in their journals.  Then allow students to share their thoughts with their classmates.  This allows them to express themselves, as well as, hear different opinions and ideas from their classmates.
